Thinking Outside the Cube

There’s a creative thinking technique called Po: make a statement and see where it leads you. One way of doing it is by picking a random word and trying to relate it into the current situation. For example, a team assigned with inventing a new type of cigarette is given the word frog. That could lead to: “Frogs hop” “Let’s invent the Hopper cigarette” “What might it look like?” “A cigarette that switches itself off and so can be used several times”. Or trying to come up with publicity ideas using the word swim. “Let’s create a billboard with moving water” “Yeah, and our product can float around in it”.

It’s off the wall. But that’s where creativity happens. Just think of what might happend. Po that.
